CL-920 Curtain Track Stacking Space Calculation

How to properly calculate stacking space needed for CL-920 Curtain Track System
(after curtain is fully opened)

Curtain Track Measuring Instructions

As you can see from the image above, if the Carrier moves back to the Drive Unit, it takes up 9". Additionally, there are three holes for three hooks provided for attaching the curtain. After that you will need to add Runners in between for the remaining curtain hooks.

One Way Pull

Suppose that the Curtain is 4" (industry standard spacing between the hooks) pinch-pleated style, as in most cases. There will be a total of 31 hooks on a 10ft curtain as follows:
10ft = 120" / 4" = 30pcs + 1st hook = 31 hooks (total)
Since the Drive Unit and the Carrier takes care of three hooks (31 - 3 = 28), a total of 28 Runners will be needed for a 10ft curtain. Total width of 28 Runners is approximately 17". The Drive Unit (5”) plus the Carrier (4”) = 9” (total).

Therefore, approximate stacking space for a One Way Pull 10ft curtain track system will be: 17" + 9" = 26"

Center Opening

If this is a Center Opening track, 1/2 Track is 60" / 4" = 15 + 1st hook = 16 hooks. Since the Drive Unit and the Carrier takes care of 3 hooks, there are (16 - 3 = 13) runners needed on each side. Width of thirteen (13) Runners is approximately 8". The Drive Unit (5”) and the Carrier (4”) = 9” (total).

Therefore, approximate stacking space for a Center Open 10ft curtain track system will be: 8" + 9" = 17" (on each end of the track)

Additional samples of Stacking Space Calculation for a few more Curtain Track sizes:

Track Size    # of Hooks    Runner Needed    Space Needed    Carrier & Drive Unit Size    Stacking Space for One Way Opening    Stacking Space for Center Opening
  8ft (96")   25pcs   - 3 = 22   = 13"   + 9"   = 22” or   15” each side
  10ft (120")   31pcs   - 3 = 28   = 17"   + 9"   = 26” or   17” each side
  13ft (156")   40pcs   - 3 = 37   = 22"   + 9"   = 31” or   20” each side
  16ft (192")   49pcs   - 3 = 46   = 27"   + 9"   = 36" or   22” each side

Important Note:
1. This stacking space calculation is based on industry standard 4" spacing between curtain hooks
2. Considering curtain fabric may not stand straight and could rise up in the lower part of a curtain, this is only an approximate estimate
3. Additionally, curtain design and thickness of the fabric needs to be taken into consideration. Thicker fabric or special design may require additional space while stacking

Space calculation for the very last hook of a curtain as a return covering the motor:
• Carrier = 4"
• Three Runners = 1 3/4"
• Drive Unit = 5"
• For the first two hooks of a curtain
